    Still nothing...

As with dave and sho, I bid this group farewell...

David, you are good people, I mean that. I had hoped after our discussion of late that maybe some of our other "members" would come in offering some kind of support or opinion, but alas it has fallen on deaf ears. A group that exists with the intention of the betterment of this section that seems to only be comprised of ghost members has no purpose. For that reason I have officially left the group. I haven't had to leave a group before so I did not realize it was instant once I clicked leave (I expected some kind of a prompt first). I was not able to remove myself from the list above, so I'd request that you'd do that for me. I do not wish to associate myself any longer with this group and any review I may submit in the future is due only to my love of writing not any group affiliation.

I wish you the best of luck if you decide to stay in this group or continue trying to make this section worth a damn. Goodbye.

Quote by shoujoboySo I saw your thread trying to ramp up some attention. Nice try. I also see you put yourself out there to take over the modship of this section. One word for you... nepotism. Learn it, love it, live it. You can go kiss some mod a$$ then maybe you'll get the nod, until then it'll remain in the same stagnant hands it's been in.

<insert sardonic snort here> Kissing up! Hah! The B*****d Planner kisses up to no one. If that is indeed the case then I am very disappointed. I mean Maplerose became a moderator fairly quickly by the looks of things - I'd expect by demonstrating her talents in the vector graphics scene, giving constructive comments/feedback to others, and so forth. I don't see her as the type to go in on bended knee saying "pleeeease let me be a moderator". If Sheqel sees value in retaining the reviews section then it needs to be monitored. That isn't happening. Therefore it is up to those who are interested in seeing the reviews kept up to scratch to step in and provide constructive criticism, support, and reporting to the Mods where necessary. Personally, I think the reviews section is valuable - as it allows anyone to submit a review (unlike other reviews boards I've seen). Maybe that is part of its problem where anyone does submit, and submits a substandard review.
BTW, the Code Geass "reviewer" took some of my comments on board and has gone back to revisit his or her work. Still some minor typos that need to be corrected but it has improved (not Pulitzer Prize-winning, but better than what it was).

You're a good guy and damnit I want ya to succeed. But honestly, in a section I once loved and made every effort I could to comment on each and every single review, I've grown distant from it. In the 3+ years I've been a member of this group, nothing has changed aside of the front page format. But I'll just zip my lips at this point and go on about my business. If ever I'm given a reason to give a damn again, believe me, I'll be back.

Quote by shoujoboyWhich is tantamount to putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound.

Yeah, I know about the gunshot wound analogy. He's covered up the entry wound with his band-aid (which is often a small hole) but has yet to address the exit point (which often has a lot more mess), let alone the internal damage <grin>. At least he's done something, now the next step is to try to help clean up the reviews and restore a modicum of quality.

Oi! Rest of you in the MT-Review mob! Have we become redundant as a Group and as a category within MT? I know your views Sho; and I'm getting an itch to take a lead on this, restore some quality, probably get into a bit of trouble (but that's nothing new), cop some abuse, and see if our efforts can make something worthwhile again.

I'll have to give Sheqel credit where its due. He's just fixed the errors for reviews on user pages and editing. The B*****d Planner is happy once again. Yes, it had fallen off his radar - he just needed a polite reminder.

Another thing that actually pisses me off quite a bit is there was a time a while back where me and Jak went through the list of members and started pruning. We went through and started removing people that weren't active anymore and after we did, there was this outcry of "why did you remove so and so?" This group is dead and full of members who really could care less about it or the reviews section. They may occasionally drop by to pimp their latest review, but other than that are nowhere to be seen. They never comment on reviews, never have input about the system and probably are just here so they can add another group to their long list.

We're like a bunch of people who decide to coordinate a protest at a government building and then only one or two of us show up with signs screaming like idiots. Look at that list up there and tell me how many people you've really EVER seen say a word here? And we already tried a member drive and that worked about as well as lighting a match under water.

The writing has been on the wall for a long time. The desire of a couple of members to keep this section on life support isn't going to be enough. We need people who legitimately give a damn, and we don't have that. I don't have to point the finger at anyone, because they know who they are.

As for pestering the admin of the site, don't bother. That message I sent before when I had a legit concern went unnoticed, so why would another one about a section that doesn't get him ad clicks even be on his radar?
