It seems like Capcom thinks that monster hunter won't sell well in the west so they mixed Monster Hunter and a western RPG and then we get Dragons Dogma, there was something in the demo that just didn't seem right, but i might rent it.

Final Fantasy XIII-2.... Well , I'm still somewhat annoyed by how Square Enix is losing their touch but meh , it's still better than XIII in a way.
Something tells me their going to bomb a XIII-3 or something.

Anyways , anyone gonna get Dragon's Dogma?
Seems pretty interesting... and it should get on this page considering that it's by Capcom despite the "Westernish" feel to the game.

    How have y'all been?

I finished Final Fantasy 13-2, which was fun but the complete and utter lack of closure (even after seeing all nine alternate endings) was more than a little disappointing. Still, any game that lets me use a tonberry in my party is ok in my book. :) I might review it once school gets out in a few weeks. //random

That may be true but if we can just keep some sort of conversation going then that should help.

I think it's already hanging on the brink of inactivity :s

*Yawn* so whats up MT review? I'm trying to focus on drawing right now, but reviewing is still a fun thing to do so I think I'll be staying here for a while, making semi-regualr posts (can't leave this group alone for a while without it falling back into inactivity)

I plan on coming back tomorrow to make a massive post, so get ready group!

Also a big welcome to Adventure Time fan Aureawolf!

  8. fallenkaze 2wk 0d ago

Welcome Area, I hope we see some great reviews from you in the future

Well that was fun I finally wrote a review for a series that seriously demanded it.

  9. z827 2wk 1d ago

    We're all busy , it seems :P

Well , freedom is far from my sights - the project is going quite smoothly at the moment but I'm still lacking in artists and programmers.
I'd probably send you lot the demo of the first chapter once we got it up and running or something - hopefully.

Welcome to the group, Area! :D Feel free to ask if you have any questions or anything.

Btw, sorry I haven't been around as much lately, guys. I've been in major preparation mode for some AP tests that are in a few weeks, but after that, FREEDOM! I might have to celebrate with some pancakes or haikus or something.

    More from me on the discussion that's been going on will come some time later when I can catch a break. ;_;

    Hello, everyone!
I'm new at MT and recently wrote this review for the series Claymore ( http://reviews.minitokyo.net/1818 ). angelxxuan kindly suggested me to check out this group and ask for opinions, so I can write better ones in the future. So, here I am :D! Thank you for your attentions :)

  12. z827 2wk 3d ago

Well , I'm not sure of "activity" - considering that the time I've joined the site , there was nothing but spam and more spam.

Furthermore , I'm kinda busy as of late - at most I'd be able to make a few posts here and there but I'm mainly clogged up with the VN project ( I'll probably send the site a link to download the Demo if we succeed in making the first Chapter or something ) and the most active threads in here are probably game threads - which does get kinda boring after a while.

Timezone difference is probably another issue since it would usually take a while to get a reply from someone of an opposite timezone.

I've seen plenty of Forums come and go - so I can safely state that a Forum dies because of...

    1. Abusive Mods ( Which I doubt , the mods here are nicer in general )
    2. Lack of diversity / Uniqueness
    3. Old and popular members posting less frequently / Leaving
    4. Abusive members ( Ahh yes... )
    5. Spam and / or monotonous replies
    6. Treating new members in a cold manner / ignoring them
    7. Ignoring requests or suggestions

    ... Stuff like that.

Well , we could certainly change the site to allow more indie arts to flow in - I won't be surprised if there are actually some people whom are offended by the art mods in this site owing to the fact that their bashed for their "simplistic and crude" work - no offense but the reason I prefer Pixiv and DeviantArt is because they allow ORIGINAL WORK no matter how childish or crude the artwork is and I'm saying this not as a poster but as a viewer - it's a great way to nurture talents as well , turning away potentials while their raw and fresh is a mistake if you ask me.

Secondly , we could try to make the forums more accessible and interesting as a whole.
I don't know what it is but the forums in this site feels like it's "missing" something as compared to the other forums.

Thirdly , we should probably try expanding beyond what we do as a forum - not solely limited to images but also the news of upcoming J-games , concerts , Manga introductions and stuff like that - the most successful forum is usually those which are easy to access , discuss and have a diversity of features to keep the interest in check.

Lastly , which is the tricky part - manpower.
Since we're pretty much dead , the only way to improve things is to attract more members , buck up the lurkers and convince people to start posting for real again.
I'll be blunt here - I don't find it quite as entertaining to post in this site as I do in other forums site though and the atmosphere isn't quite right.
Timezone differences can be easily overcome with the equal amount of members to post in the group - but convincing people to post requires them to be equipped with a topic in mind - that is why information being broadcasted in the site itself is important.

For example , today , someone broadcasts information about the upcoming game... say... Mugen Souls and people would probably start talking about it in the forums.

Furthermore , artist mods really needs to hold on to their whips and reins - I've seen many rejected works and most of these people rarely or never posts again - feeling offended by a grubby member is one thing but being offended by a mod is another.

Like I said , we should encourage more indie arts in this site - we should allow originality - not some photoshop of a scan.

As I said before , there is something in this site which is "missing" as compared to the other forum site - I can't quite point out what it is - may it be the atmosphere or the features but something is definitely missing and I don't feel this way despite the number of Forum sites I've been to before.

    merged: 04-29-2012 ~ 06:36am
Oh yeah - we need to remember that members DO come and go - I may not be remaining here long as well - I usually leave a Forum within two years or so but meh , I'll probably stay around since the mods are okay.

Forums are usually kept alive by conversations and it is important to keep the fuel burning - which is impossible if it is solely the few people which usually posts here and there - which is why new members are important.

Forum sites can also be maintained if you have something unique to offer and offer a nice bling to your site.
Our site is , admittedly , dry in content and we don't exactly have a lot of originality flowing in - we should try to promote more original work not only in images and wallpapers but of those in various fields or try to toss in a chunk of extra feature or two - such as bringing news to the site and stuff like that.

I daresay we should start changing this site - offer news of games and stuff like that , we ought to change once in a while to keep things fresh and alive.
People do like new things - though certain changes can be for the worse of course - like Gamespot's new style in their video reviews , talks and featured content.

Ultimately, I think the problem is just that the forum section just gets next to no love.

With the inclusion of achievements, we did see a slight spike in comments, and while that was nice there just isn't any attention given to it anymore.

However, I do want to state something in completely honest, this isn't the only section. Back when I first joined, the forums were a hot spot for a variety of topics and information. As of now, it's hardly in the amount of activity. Sadly, we can't be the only ones that keep things going either, as posts become redundant and discussion becomes limited.

Snicker made a great suggestion to me a few weeks ago, and given some thought to it I realized that it all stems back to the fact that the section itself is, pretty much, dead. While we get a steady amount of reviews, the amount of participation and willing discussion is next to non-existent.

For this group to survive, we need activity and for that to be the case, we need individuals who want to be a part of this group. More importantly, we need people that are interested in taking the time to not only comment on a review, but engage in discussion. That, I see, is the source of the problem and it's rather difficult to figure out how to pull attention.

  14. fallenkaze 2wk 4d ago

Yeah i was writing a review but, I can no longer access my computer so I'll be out of commission for a while, but I will have a few written down paper ready for later

  15. z827 3wk 4d ago

Oh... uhh... how do I describe this...

Owing to the inexperience of my team ( We're all bloody newbies - at least , most of us are ) we've decided to settle on something... simple.
I did intend to do something very... Fate/Stay Night or Muv Luv-like but I don't think it's the right time to do infodump plots at the moment.

So I've decided to pull off something with Slice-of-Life elements with a bit of drama here and there - kinda doubt I can actually pull off something like White Album , Clannad or perhaps ef , Ever17 and stuff like that - but I guess I'll try to write up something manageable but memorable :s

The problem is my health I suppose - and whether this team would work out.

    merged: 04-21-2012 ~ 02:37pm
Halfway through writing Hoshiko's route plot - my health isn't exactly perfect at the moment so I guess I pushed myself a little.... too much :s

    merged: 04-24-2012 ~ 08:30am
Bringing updates from my project - I've managed to budge up some of the work and managed to finished writing one of the heroine's routes - or at least , a brief summary of the important events.
I still need to fill in the daily events and conversations...

I don't think I can write any reviews for nearly a year... gonna be as busy as a bee in the ensuing months.

  16. fallenkaze 3wk 4d ago

So Z what kind of VN were you planning to do?

  17. z827 4wk 5d ago

Nor is it Visual Novel focused for the matter...
I'm seriously tempted to move to another Forum site of sorts.

  18. fallenkaze 4wk 5d ago

yeah sorry on the late reply, but anyway this site isnt exactly review focused anyway but complaining about it isn't going to make it better.

  19. z827 6wk 0d ago

Meh , I don't really know anyone who may make a good review critique - maybe this site needs a thumbs up or down system so lazy / reserved readers may just thumb the reviews up or down - then again , fan-ism is a very powerful and biased feeling. :P

    merged: 04-04-2012 ~ 11:46am
Anyways , I think I'm gonna start on the Kamidori review once I've COMPLETELY finished it.... this game is more time consuming than I thought.

Three main heroine routes which takes forever to complete ( I've only completed Yuela's route ) and NEW GAME + content which would take a couple of playthroughs to unlock.
Oh well , guess I shouldn't be complaining , most Visual Novels would've be over and done with in a matter of half a week :s

    merged: 04-05-2012 ~ 12:58am
Finished my Kamidori review... and I think I'm gonna take a break or something.
That game literally sapped my soul.

    merged: 04-06-2012 ~ 04:02am
.... Will probably get started on another Visual Novel in a couple of days.
Meh , this site really isn't ideal for Visual Novel reviews :s

  20. SnickerdoodleNinja Elite Member 6wk 0d ago

Hmm, I might know a few people to drag get in here, so we'll see how that goes.

Of course, I should probably get caught up on comments myself before I ask others. >.> *shakes fist at calculus*

    Heya Review Group!

We're pretty hurt in the review section right now for feedback. If you know anyone who would be interested in coming aboard and helping us out, or getting involved and offering some feedback, it would be most appreciated.

    /end generic message.

  22. z827 7wk 2d ago

    Just watched "Gyo" and.... and...
Ugh... I don't know what to make of it.

  23. fallenkaze 8wk 1d ago

I really need to start reviewing again, but seeing everyone else's shows me that I need to put more time into each one to keep the quality on par with the recent reviews.

  24. z827 8wk 6d ago

Ehh... Don't think I'd be active for a while - gonna need to play through Kamidori ( Visual Novel ) so I could post a review here.
This game is taking longer than expected - and I'm still on the main heroine's route =.=
